It is nearly the mid point of the month. So far I have managed to find an affirmation for myself every day. My wife has encouraged me along the way, and for that I am thankful.
This morning over breakfast we were discussing what we wanted to accomplish for the day on our bedroom project. One of the items on the list was to cut and mount the baseboard moldings. This is something far outside me comfort zone for any number of reasons, but I had committed yesterday that I was going to get it done.
One of the things I was worried about was making sure that I nailed the new moldings into the studs in the wall so they don’t move later. At breakfast I was trying to decide how I could find the studs and make a mark that wouldn’t mar any surfaces, but would let me see where to put the nails. Then I struck an idea. I could use post-it notes on the floor to show where the nails for the previous moldings were in the wall. It was a fast and easy way to make sure I was successful. It was then that I thought of this affirmation:
I find creative ways to work around my limitations.
I am the first to admit that when it comes to home improvement projects I am not a rock star. That’s a limitation in my life that I know and own. But, I find ways to work around that limitation so I can be successful with my projects. Finding the fast, easy way to locate the studs saved time over using the stud finder, and it worked.
My moldings are all cut, and all but one small section is nailed in place. That spot is waiting for another part of the project to complete.
